Indoor dining and gyms now open under Stage 3 of reopening plan

Businesses re-opening - Downtown Markham

Ontario has entered Stage 3 of its reopening plan amid the coronavirus pandemic, which includes indoor dining at restaurants and bars, the opening of gyms, and an increase in the limit on gathering sizes to a maximum of 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors.

Many of our restaurants have announced plans to reopen their dining rooms as of July 24, 2020. This latest round of openings includes GoodLife Fitness, located on the second floor of The Origin (169 Enterprise Blvd), which is encouraging guests to book a time slot online to ensure social distancing requirements are met.

Retailers such as Stark’s Barber Company, Capsule, Golf Town, La Difference Time Centre and Curry’s Art Store are also open for customers to visit.

It’s important to note that every business in Downtown Markham has a different reopening strategy and may have new protocols to follow.

Anyone wishing to visit one of the Downtown Markham shops should contact them by phone in advance to confirm store hours and any health restrictions that may impact your visit. All customers should follow established physical distancing and hand-cleaning protocols when visiting a store or restaurant.

Cineplex Cinemas Markham & VIP has not yet announced an official opening date, but you can still order menu items via SkipTheDishes daily from 3pm – 10pm.

Downtown Markham Events

A number of events planned for Downtown Markham for the summer of 2020 have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and have been postponed and likely cancelled until the province allows large gatherings. These include:

  • Markham Ribfest
  • DTM Music Festival & Summer Jam
  • DTM Craft Beer and Food Festival
  • NBA/NHL viewing parties in Origin Square

The Pride of Canada Carousel will remain closed until further notice, and we are currently not accepting any event bookings.

Downtown Markham Presentation Centre

The DTM Presentation Centre at 162 Enterprise Blvd. will remain closed, but staff are available to existing and potential high rise purchasers by appointment or email. Please call 905-948-9900 or email highrisesales@remingtongroupinc.com to make an appointment.

Without question, the current global pandemic has changed the definition of “business as usual.” However, businesses in Downtown Markham are working hard to ensure you feel safe and confident in visiting and patronizing any of their shops and services through the summer of 2020.
