April 13, 2014 Markham, ON - The York Region Arts Council (YRAC) has partnered with Downtown Markham for an exciting event that promotes interaction and awareness of creative individuals, organizations, businesses and happenings in York Region. This social networking event will take place at the award-winning Downtown Markham Presentation Centre in Markham on Thursday May 8 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a reading of an original script by Shadowpath Theatre Production's Alex Karolyi.
"Arts After Hours Networking Events are some of YRAC's most anticipated events because they bring together creatives from all over York Region in an open and engaging environment," explained Samantha Rodin, Associate Director at YRAC. "The Downtown Markham event builds on notions of connectivity and collaboration by exposing attendees to a world of arts and culture opportunities in Markham's new urban core."
"We believe that the world's best cities are not defined by their streets or their buildings, but by the life that happens in between," said Evelynn Ratcliffe, Retail Marketing, The Remington Group. "We are thrilled to host YRAC and their guests as they help breath life in to our community and join in learning about why Downtown Markham is the Place to Be Inspired."
Shadowpath Theatre Productions will facilitate a reading from an original script by Artistic Producer and Founder, Alex Karolyi. Acting background or not, all attendees are encouraged to participate. Shadowpath identifies as a York Region based professional theatre company and provides a prime example for how artists and organizations can achieve success by playing to the strengths of their environment.
Arts After Hours in Downtown Markham (#ArtAfterHours) is an opportunity to promote local talent and encourage artistic exchange in York Region. In addition to open networking and an interactive play reading, attendees will enjoy complimentary hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and a raffle with generous prizes donated by local businesses and organizations.
Early Bird tickets are free for YRAC members and $10 (+ applicable fees) for the general public until April 27 at 11:30 pm. Visit ArtsAfterHoursNetworking4.eventbrite.ca to learn more and register.
